Still at the top of the charts when it comes to UK music blogs is That Grape Juice, which has been pouring out juicy updates from the world of urban pop culture for its readers since 2007. Those thirsting for news from the US scene can read updates on what Beyonce, The Weeknd, and Carrie Underwood are up to next, as well as more general entertainment topics. Music on film is also covered, with insider looks at the upcoming Mufasa: The Lion King movie, and a new Gloria Gaynor biopic made by Lifetime.
2. XS Noize
Up from last year’s number three spot is XS Noize, an ‘independent consortium of opinionated music lovers’. Launched in 2014 by Mark Millar, contributors come from a variety of backgrounds and age groups, all with a mission to provide readers with ‘insightful musical reviews, interviews, timely news and opinion’. Alongside all this on the blog, more from the team can be found via The XS Noize Podcast – recent musicians featured include Saint Etienne’s Sarah Cracknell, East 17’s Tony Mortimer, and Sister Ghost.
3. UKF
‘Welcome to the home of drum and bass’ says the homepage of UKF, which started life as two separate YouTube channels launched by founder Luke – UKF Dubstep and UKF Drum & Bass – before eventually evolving into UKF with the help of independent music company AEI Music. The brand now encompasses a record label and editorial platform, and promotes big bass music events across the world. Check out new releases from the label, and the latest words on the blog. 4. UK Jazz News
Moving up from number five this year is UK Jazz News, The Blog Formerly Known As LondonJazz News. Originally started in 2009 by founder Sebastian Scotney, it now has a full roster offering ‘the unmediated voice of the musician’ to readers across the world. Content here ‘starts from a genuine enthusiasm for jazz, for the energy, range and diversity of the scene all around us, and for the people who make it happen’. Read up on jazz greats like Kenny Wheeler, as well as newcomers on the scene.
5. Live4Ever
A new entry for 2025’s ranking of the top UK music blogs is Live4Ever, which aims to showcase ‘the world’s most original artists’. Founded in 2009 by three-time Emmy Award-winning special effects cameraman and music photographer Paul Bachmann, this blog posts news, features, interviews, reviews, upcoming music releases, and updates on upcoming festival and tour dates. 6. A&R Factory
A&R (that’s ‘artists and repertoire’) Factory is where to go for discovering new independent and unsigned artists, if you want more than what’s on offer from musicians racking up airplay on mainstream radio right now. This online A&R rep for musicians making their way up in the industry was launched by Stefan Toren in 2012 and acts as a meeting ground for artists and ‘playlist curators, music labels, promoters, other influential blogs, industry professionals who are always looking for the next big thing’ … as well as audiences who just want to discover new music.
‘We believe in the power of good music’ say the team at the blog in our seventh spot, who provide a platform via ‘media and publishing, digital PR and publicity, social media marketing, and live events, to promote, support, and raise awareness for the best new music and artists’. Sticking at number eight is pianist, writer, music lover, and blogger Frances Wilson, AKA The Cross-Eyed Pianist. Launched in 2010, this blog covers piano players and the instrument itself, featuring concert, album, and book reviews alongside ‘esoteric musings on music and musicians’. The blog also features guest posts from other experts in the field, the most recent coming from Dakota Gale from his series ‘Notes from a Keyboard’. 9. blog.eil.com
Up from number ten is blog.eil.com, which focuses on record, vinyl, and CD collecting for music lovers. But it’s not all about what to listen to – general music merchandise is also covered, including autographs, posters, and films. For those just starting their own collection, check out the Collecting Advice channel for the lowdown on the abbreviations and technical vernacular of the collecting world before you dive in. You can also uncover other music modes, including audiophile pressings, you might want to invest in.
10. IINAG
Standing for ‘Indie is not a genre’, IINAG is a ‘music blog that doesn’t trust the hype’, aiming to go much deeper. Not just posting about indie, the team write about pop and alternative music, meaning you’re likely to find something you’re into here. Recent news covers new singles from Bdrmm and the Manic Street Preachers, the latest in the reviews section shares thoughts on Franz Ferdinand’s The Human Fear, and the team interview Elena Erin about the new single from her album Roaring 20s.
