What being nominated for a #VuelioBlogAward means to our bloggers
With the #VuelioBlogAwards just around the corner, we thought we’d speak with some of the nominees to find out how they feel about being nominated, what they are most looking forward to on the night, and what winning would mean to them.
“It feels awesome to be nominated! I have never been nominated for anything before so this is super duper exciting. It is such an honour to be nominated alongside such an incredible selection of bloggers! On the night I’m excited at getting to meet lots of other like-minded people. Blogging is a big industry with loads of interesting characters. I love going to events to meet others who have the same interests, hobbies and passions. We can connect over HTML and camera lenses!
“Winning would mean so much to me. It would show that the hard work I have put in for the past three and a half years has been worth it. Sometimes you feel like you’re just writing a post and putting it out into the world, with no knowledge of whether anyone will actually read it. It always astounds me when people do, and my content resonates with them. It makes it all worthwhile.”
“It feels great to be nominated for a Vuelio Award. Being nominated alongside such established and popular websites gives me reassurance and a motivational boost that what I’m doing with my vision at MenswearStyle is working. Quite often, as a business owner, you’re rarely satisfied. I always want to be achieving more and constantly benchmark against bigger and better publications. So, when an organisation such as Vuelio tells you that you’re on a shortlist for being one of the best, it puts a big smile on your face.
“We attended last year and were pleasantly surprised with the event. The venue is fantastic and the food was amazing. I wasn’t expecting an event on such a scale and thought it was organised brilliantly. I’m looking forward to getting dressed up and attending with my wife again.
“Winning would be a major milestone in MenswearStyle’s timeline. It’s been 5 years of hard work and I’ve seen the company grow and mature into something I’m proud of. This award would be the icing on the cake.”
Faya Nilsson, Fitness On Toast
“I feel super honoured to be nominated! Three years on and it still bowls me over that people are interested in my scribblings, so to be recognised by Vuelio in this sort of capacity is enormously gratifying. Moreover, though, it’s a helpful reminder to any blogger that you’re pouring in all this love, crafting and sharing this media for a reason; there’s a real audience outside of that blogging office who you’re reaching – that’s definitely a thought that will help get me through the difficult moments that come with this job!
“When I think about the night of the actual Vuelio Blog Awards it’s rare that so many of us are together at once; blogging’s a relatively solo venture, so I very much look forward to indulging in the industry with other like minded people! It sounds like an incredible night of glamour and excitement too; I follow many of the bloggers who are nominated and who will be attending. It’s always great to meet in person as well as catching up with some familiar faces. Plus it’s a fab opportunity to network with other people in the industry as well as have a cheeky cocktail or two.
“A nomination is a great accolade in itself, but I think winning would fill me with an overwhelmingly warm feeling that what I do is appreciated. I often sit at home and write; just me, a chair and a laptop, pouring my heart out about a passion for health, fitness, nutrition and travel. Often it can feel as though nobody’s likely to read it, associate with it or perhaps even care about it! To win this prestigious title would be an epic encouragement, and would top up my levels of drive, energy and purpose to take FitnessOnToast.com to the next level!”
Dan Toombs, Great Curry Recipes
“I am so excited to have been nominated again. I put a lot of time into my blog and being recognised like this makes it all worth it.
“I’m looking forward to experiencing the whole evening. Last year I was double booked and had to review a restaurant before quickly making my way to The Brewery. My wife and I missed half of the evening. This year we’re going to get there early.
“Winning would mean the world to me. Since my win last year, I was invited to Sri Lanka to review a luxury hotel chain. I may write a food blog but this gave me a chance to do a bit of travel writing and of course learn some amazing recipes from top chefs which were very popular with my readers. One of the reasons I was offered the chance to go to Sri Lanka was down to the award. The win also attracted a lot of attention from new sponsors. Their backing has helped me to keep the blog going and continue doing what I love.
“I recently signed a cookbook deal. My book should hit the shelves in May 2017. Judging from all the publicity my blog received from winning last year’s award, I can only hope it happens again. It is an honour to be shortlisted with these talented bloggers.”
Kate Watson-Smyth, Mad About the House
“It’s always wonderful to be recognised for what you do. This is also an industry nomination based on statistics rather than the blogger running a campaign for votes so it feels like it carries real weight.
“I’m sure it will be a fun evening. I was unable to come last year so I’m looking forward to it this year.
“In terms of what winning would mean to me, it’s the public recognition for what I do, but also it helps me work with more brands and do more interesting projects, which in turns drives traffic and helps to grow both your blog and, hopefully, the brand I am working with.”
Julie Falconer, A Lady in London
“It feels great to be nominated. I’m honoured to be in such good company with the other nominees. They all run great blogs.
“I feel that winning would validate the work I’ve done on the blog over the last nine years. It would also be a good addition to the ways I show new readers and prospective partners that A Lady in London is a trustworthy blog.”
“I was delighted to be nominated. Although only in its second year, I’ve noticed a huge buzz among bloggers about the Vuelio Blog Awards. The awards are already an established part of the blogging scene so to be nominated is an endorsement in itself.
“I will definitely be attending this year’s Vuelio Blog Awards! From what I’ve heard, last year’s awards were great fun. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet with other bloggers and I’m sure I’ll have a lot of fun meeting new people and catching up with old friends. I also look forward to getting some good networking done. That said, the main aim is to have fun! I put a huge amount of work into my blog so it’ll be great just to relax for an evening.
“To fit blogging around my family commitments, I get up at 5am, seven days a week to keep my blog, YouTube channel and social media platforms updated. It’s a big job. To win would be a major recognition of my efforts and would show the world that a stay at home dad can produce a profitable blog while looking after two daughters and running the household.
“Winning would raise my blog’s profile. This would hopefully attract new and exciting brand partnerships. Winning would also attract new readers to Dadbloguk and new viewers to my videos.”
Abigail King, Inside the Travel Lab
“I was absolutely thrilled to hear about the nomination. While travel often provides the chance to meet all kinds of people, the actual act of writing and blogging can be quite an isolated progression. It’s always a real boost to receive encouragement like this from the outside world – and as Vuelio is so well respected, it means all the more.
“I’m looking forward to meeting the talented bloggers on the list and those whose hard work make events like this possible. I’m expecting my first baby in a few weeks, though, so it may be that I turn up with bump or at the very least with bags under my eyes!
” I feel that winning would be a wonderful boost during what has been, personally, quite a difficult year. It would offer encouragement as well as a seal of approval on the work that I’ve been doing – and those are always good things! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed.”
Angie Silver, Silverspoon London
“I’m incredibly honoured to be nominated for a Vuelio Blog Award and it was amazing to see my name alongside so many bloggers who I admire. Blogging is my passion and it absolutely means the world to me to have recognition for such a prestigious award and to know that other people value my writing too.
“I’m really looking forward to a fun and glamourous evening and getting dressed up in my formal finery! Most of all I’m looking forward to reconnecting with bloggers who have become friends and meeting new and interesting people. That’s the incredible thing about blogging, you meet such a diverse group of people with one shared love!
“A blog is such a personal expression of your life and experience so winning would be an incredible accomplishment for me. Not only will it be a personal boost, it will be a fantastic step in raising the profile of my blog and hopefully bring me more readers.”
“It’s always great to be nominated for something you feel passionate about. On the night I’m looking forward to meeting other bloggers. Winning would be fabulous, being recognised for all the hard work it takes to run a blog.”
Jen Walshaw, Mum In The Madhouse
“I was delighted to be nominated and it is a real honour to be a finalist with such great company and have my blog side by side with some incredible women, whom I really admire. My blog is like my third baby and I really appreciate that it is still relevant after all this time. I love all that blogging has introduced to my life from wonderful people to amazing experiences for my family and a flexible career that fits in with my growing family.
“I am looking forward to meeting new people who understand what a blog is! It will be great to connect with the other nominees and widen my circle. Plus a night out sounds great, as long as people realise that I am an introvert which is why I often hide behind my computer screen and I blog!
“Winning would just be amazing, although I am not even contemplating that possibility! It would be a great way to bring my blog to new eyes. I do not write my blog for recognition, but it would be fab to receive an award for it and it would be a great source of credibility. I am blogging in an increasingly crowded sector and being nominated and possibly winning would help me stand out from the crowd. It may even be the deciding factor in someone wanting to work with me.”
“It feels awesome to be nominated. One of my blogging goals for the year was to try to make Vuelio’s top ten list of Dad Blogs, so to achieve that – by being named second on the list – and then go one step further by being nominated for the Vuelio Blog Awards is pretty surreal. Considering that I only started The DADventurer just over two years ago, I’m pleasantly surprised with being recognised in this way.
“As a stay-at-home dad, I rarely get time to myself, let alone time with the missus. So, I’m really looking forward to attending the Vuelio Blog Awards to give us the chance to get dressed up, have a drink and enjoy a bit of time as a couple. It also sounds a great chance to catch up with some blogging friends, meet new people and do a bit of networking.
“Winning the award would be a massive validation of what I do and how I do it. I juggle my time around raising my daughter and blogging as a part-time business, so to be recognised with an award such as this would be a huge pat on the back. I’d also hope that winning would help to increase my profile and attract new readers and new brands interested in collaborating with The DADventurer.”
“It feels amazing to be nominated! I was so happy when I heard the news! I was jumping up and down like I already won! It feels like everything was worth it and it makes me wake up in the morning with a smile on my face. I know it’s only nomination, but it’s always nice to be considered, especially with other people who are killing it as well! Travel blogging is not easy!
“I am looking forward to meeting all of the amazing people who were nominated. It is nice to meet new people, because in my line of blogging, socialising is very hard.
“Winning would mean the world to me. It would help me inspire other people to chase their dreams, invest in their abilities. I would really need to live up to that in some way. I would feel guilty winning and then not living up to that achievement. I am already hyped to be on that list, but winning would be something else. I might throw up or release a high pitched scream.”
“I’m thrilled to be nominated! Out of the abundance of blogs out there, it feels incredible to be selected! It would be a wonderful feeling to win such an award. I work so hard on the blog and my channels, that it would be so fantastic to know that it was making some sort of difference. It would just be a great boost of confidence for the future!”
